Edward Norton is a twice Oscar-nominated Hollywood star, and also the grandson of the founder of the Enterprise Foundation - an organization which sought to provide affordable housing and ‘life-enhancing' opportunities to families suffering financial hardship, and of which he is a member of the board.
In 2003, Edward and his brother met with bosses at BP Solar and organized a merger between the two organizations that would provide solar installations to low-income families in South Central Los Angeles. The principle behind the concept was that for every solar home purchased through the program, a low-income family would receive a solar installation free of charge.
Edward has long been a vocal advocate of the need to explore alternative sources of energy and provide affordable housing for low-income families. The merger of the Enterprise Foundation and BP Solar was an ideal project for him for this reason.
The BP Solar Neighbors Program has been an incredible success, with homes already purchased by such high profile celebrities as Salma Hayek, Alicia Silverstone and Danny DeVito.
