Some of the world’s most recognizable stars have contributed their own stories and essays to the newest expression of Hollywood’s green turn, “The Green Book: The Everyday Guide to Saving the Planet One Simple Step at a Time.” Stars such as Cameron Diaz, Will Ferrell, Justin Timberlake, Robert Redford, and Jennifer Aniston have contributed ideas and stories about how they turned the environmentalist corner and started to treat their planetary home with a little more due respect.
Owen Wilson is one of the contributors, and he talks about his purchase of a Toyota Prius as a “gateway drug” that led him to solar power for his home and some serious reading that caused him to think about the political steps that need to be taken to bring public policy in line with the world’s needs. Still, he says that the book is about “very easy-to-understand ideas that everyone could apply, just little, small steps people can take to make a positive contribution."
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. also takes a turn through the book, which sells for $12.95 and can be explored at http://www.readthegreenbook.com.
