Julia Roberts, one of Hollywood's biggest and brightest stars for almost two decades has, amongst other accolades, been honored with an Oscar for her role in ‘Erin Brockovich’ (as well as scoring two other Oscar nominations) and is one of only two actresses to earn $20 million for a movie.
Julia and her husband, Danny Moder, began working with the Earth Biofuels energy company in July 2006 to promote the use of sustainable energy resources, such as biodiesel and ethanol. The company produces, distributes and markets bio-fuel, making it one of a kind in the energy industry. Julia is a spokesperson for the company and Chair of the Advisory Board, and she has made use of her celebrity status to publicize the company on shows such as The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Julia has been listed in People magazine’s ‘most beautiful women’ list on eleven occasions, but was awarded ‘most beautiful environmentalist’ earlier this year in honor of her activism both in the US and around the world. In particular, the actress was praised for ‘School Bus America’, the campaign she fronted for Earth Biofuels, to convert the country’s half a million school buses from diesel-fuel to biodiesel-fuel.
Julia has not been seen onscreen since the birth of her twin babies in 2004, but she has said that motherhood has opened her eyes to her social responsibility, and she has begun using her celebrity to raise awareness of environmental issues. Julia works closely with UNICEF, has traveled the world with the organization, and was one of the stars to appear in Vanity Fair’s Green Issue in May this year.
